Sewing needle sizes. Sizes range from 13 to 26. In this system a higher gauge number means a smaller needle diameter. We made the perfect needle that features a moderately flexible body that is hard to break a smooth needle eye for easy threading and a needle point that passes through smoothly.
When sewing with heavy tightly woven fabrics like denim or corduroy use a larger needle 1175 1280 or 1490 sharp needles. For example a 20 Gauge needles diameter is less than a 10 gauge needles diameter. There is an easy-to-remember correlation between the European number and the exact diameter of the needle.
However we have given very little attention to different fabric weights or sewing needle sizes. That means that our standard 80 needle is really80mm in diameter. FF - Use needle sizes 120 19 to 140 22.
The most widely used needles are the 50 60 70 80 90 and 100 sizes in other words half a millimeter to a millimeter thick. For example a size 10 needle is much shorter and skinnier than a size 3 needle. The most popular sizes are 16 to 26.
